Shopping Affair 09
VQ Las Vegas!

Thursday 15th October saw the staging of the sixth Victoria Quarter Shopping Affair – VQ Las Vegas. The evening was another runaway success, with in excess of 9,000 shoppers taking advantage of the events' special offers available throughout the centre's 76 stores.

The event has become a firm fixture for the fashion conscious in the region, with entertainment this year from 'Frank Sinatra', Vegas showgirls, stilt walkers and much more. The main event however was, as always, most definitely the shopping!

As Centre Director John Bade commented:
“ The evening was a huge success, and a credit to all those who helped organise it. I know the VQ isn't the only place to shop in the region, so it's particularly pleasing to see so many people again this year, especially after the difficult economic period we've recently undergone.”
I think this also highlights the Victoria Quarter's on-going appeal in the region,” he continued, “ not only locally but also across the North of the country. I know from applications we received for invitations that many shoppers travelled some distance to be here tonight.”
“ Significantly, footfall for the event was up on 2008 by some margin, indicating not only an increased awareness of the event, but also a return to a more positive attitude amongst the shopping public.”
This years' event heralded the start of Leeds Shopping Week, which ran until 25th October.

Next years' Shopping Affair will be on Thursday October 14th, and will form part of the Victoria Quarter's 20th Anniversary celebrations.
